RTLS Indoor & Outdoor Positioning System is a software application that utilizes both Bluetooth technology and standard GPS to monitor and track the location of employees throughout corporate facilities and compounds. Bluetooth beacons are strategically placed throughout indoor facilities, while GPS geo-fencing is used to monitor outdoor areas.

RTLS Indoor & Outdoor Positioning solution allows organizations to locate and track employees in real-time using Bluetooth technology indoors and standard GPS for the outdoors. RTLS can be installed in multiple configurations to allow for different tracking and monitoring options for different industries and settings.

Bluetooth Indoor Positioning

The indoor positioning system can locate and track employees indoors through any always discoverable Bluetooth devices and beacons.

GPS Outdoor Positioning

Locates and tracks employees outdoors via their GPS-enabled MOTOTRBO™ radios using GPS geo-fences.

Personal Safety With Location Data

Using both technologies, an employee’s location can be easily be found and monitored in real-time whether indoors or outdoors.

Indoor Positioning Options with RTLS

RTLS can be installed in multiple configurations to allow for different tracking and monitoring options indoors.

Comprehensive Positioning

RTLS can be used to track employee movements throughout a facility. As a synced Bluetooth device pairs and un-pairs at known locations, RTLS displays the users last known location.

Area Entrance Notification

RTLS can be used to monitor entrance and exit points. Bluetooth beacons are placed in doorways and hallways to create zones that automatically track personnel and/or assets.

Critical and Safe Area Protection

RTLS can be used to create critical or safe areas indoors when paired with Centralized Lone Worker (CLW), activating when they enter a  critical zone and deactivating when they enter a safe zone.

Outdoor Positioning with RTLS
GPS Geo-Fencing

Locates and track employees outdoors via their GPS-enabled radios using GPS geo-fences to monitor and track when a user enters or exits the designated areas.

Comprehensive Positioning

Track an employee’s actions throughout the outdoor portion of a facility by displaying when a user enters and exits the programmed geo-fences.

Critical and Safe Area Protection

Track when employees enter or exit critical outdoor areas when paired with Centralized Lone Worker (CLW), activating when they enter a critical zone and deactivating when they enter a safe zone.

Decreased Response Time

RTLS allows dispatchers, supervisors and administrators to quickly locate employees and assets. When accidents occur, dispatchers and managers can log into the web browser to locate the closest mobile worker to the incident and request their assistance.

Enhanced Worker Safety

During emergencies, RTLS can keep supervisors, administrators and co-workers informed of employees and other important assets location. When paired with ACS application, MDN and CLW, RTLS ensures the response team is given the distressed employees location.

  • Account for employee and assets’ location during emergencies.
  • When an alarm is activated, ACS will send the employee’s last known location to lead the response team to the alarm source.
Improved Situational Awareness

Mobile workers require tools to enhance their situational awareness. With RTLS, real-time location data within a predetermined area can be viewed on a desktop. When MDN or CLW is activated, RTLS quickly tracks and displays their location indoors or outdoors.

System Architecture

RTLS is a software application installed on an on-site server to track the location of Bluetooth and GPS-enabled MOTOTRBO™ radios. RTLS tracks radio users in real-time and shares location data with mobile workers via data messages or pre-canned audio messages. The location information is displayed on a desktop application accessible over the LAN.

Compatible Radios

For the outdoors, RTLS is compatible with all MOTOTRBO™ portables and mobiles radios that are GPS-enabled. These are identifiable by their product code, ending in XX50 & XX80. RTLS is compatible with the following MOTOTRBO™ radio network modes:

For the indoors, RTLS can detect any Bluetooth-enabled device that remains in always discoverable mode.
