Teldio is a Certified Motorola MOTOTRBO Two-Way Radio Applications Developer

RBX +Plus™ – Two-way Radio Telephony

RBX +Plus (Radio Branch Exchange) is an advanced telephone interconnect specifically designed to allow radio users to make and receive phone calls directly on their MOTOTRBO™ radios. The application goes beyond basic telephone interconnects by allowing radio users to access familiar phone-like features, such as call history, phonebook, and caller ID.  RBX +Plus streamlines communication between phone and radio users with private calls, talkgroups and callgroups. The app was designed to easily scale, and it can connect digital two-way radios to something as simple as a standard POTS phone line or as complex as a corporate phone system (PBXs).

Make & Receive Phone Calls Directly From Your Radio

RBX +Plus Call Types

Private Calls

Radio users have the ability to place and receive private phone calls from their MOTOTRBO™ radio. This virtually transforms the two-way radio into a mobile phone.

Talkgroup extensions allow phone users to easily reach groups of radios. The phone user is virtually transformed into a radio allowing him to broadcast onto the radio network from any phone, anywhere. All radio users within the target talkgroup have the ability to hear the phone user and respond.

Callgroups allow phone users to ring a group of radios. The first person to answer within that ring group is entered into a private call with the phone user. Other users in the group are notified that the call has been answered.

Increased Productivity

By enabling MOTOTRBO™ radios to make and receive calls, mobile workers become increasingly productive as they no longer need to rely on multiple mobile devices to communicate.  No longer must they find a phone to make outside calls or carry both radio and cell phone.  RBX +Plus also allows phone users to communicate seamlessly to a group of radios via talkgroups and callgroups.  This allows supervisors and managers to speak with their team members instantly, from virtually anywhere, at anytime.

Frequent Use Case
  • Talk to a group of mobile workers via a radio talkgroup
  • Call a third party supplier from a MOTOTRBO™ radio
  • Ring a callgroup and request an action from the first user to answer

Enhanced Worker Safety and Security

With RBX +Plus enabled on their MOTOTRBO™ radios, mobile workers are always connected. They are able to send and receive critical information without the need to communicate via a dispatcher. In the event of an emergency, a mobile worker can have access to dialing for help, whether it be internally to the security department or externally to a 9-1-1 operator. Emergency call boxes can also be linked to security callgroups and talkgroups to ensure immediate response and action.

Frequent Use Case
  • Call 9-1-1 directly from the MOTOTRBO™ handset
  • Dial supervisor’s extension to report incident
  • Link emergency call boxes to security radios

Reduced Operational Costs

By coupling RBX +Plus with MOTOTRBO™ radios, you can extend the footprint of your corporate telephony system (PBX) to your radio network.  This allows for a streamlined communication process and eliminates the need for disparate mobile communication infrastructure, such as cell phones, Nextel phone, and WiFi phones.  Costly monthly operational costs are eliminated along with dead zones and weak signal strength. RBX +Plus replaces these with a durable and robust private mobile communication network.

Frequent Use Case
  • Elimination of cell phones and associated costs
  • Replacement of Nextel phones
  • Replacement of costly and non-durable WiFi phones

System Architecture

RBX +Plus is a software application installed on a server which connects two-way radios to the world of telephony.  The server interfaces to the radio system using MOTOTRBO™ control stations (mobile radios).  It was designed to connect to IP and analog corporate phone systems (PBXs), public telephone lines (PSTN lines), Internet Telephony Service Providers as well as GSM cellular networks.

RBX +Plus interfaces with radios using MOTOTRBO™ control stations which are connected to the server using a custom USB/Audio cable. The number of MOTOTRBO™ control stations is defined by the required number of concurrent radio to phone calls at any given time.  The RBX system is compatible with all MOTOTRBO™ digital display radios* in Direct, Repeater, Capacity Plus, IP Site Connect, Linked Capacity Plus and Capacity Max modes.

* Motorola Expansion Cards Required – can be purchased seperately or pre-installed on MOTOTRBO™ radios
