Man Down Notifier

Teldio's Man Down Notifier (MDN) is a two-way radio application designed to detect if a worker has had a fall or accident. MDN ensures proactive monitoring of employee well-being and dispatches automatic emergency notifications to response teams.

Teldio’s Man-Down Notifier (MDN) is an intelligent solution that provides proactive surveillance of employee's well-being and dispatches automatic emergency notifications to the appropriate response individuals or groups when the need arises. The solution is a cost-effective and potentially lifesaving way of detecting if a worker has had a fall or accident. The application utilizes the integrated accelerometer on the MOTOTRBO Expansion Board to monitor workers by detecting a lack of movement, a horizontal tilt, or a combination of both. MDN resides on the generic MOTOTRBO option board in an MDN-enabled radio and communicates with a central server to dispatch the emergency notification when need be. Furthermore, MDN integrates perfectly with Teldio’s existing MOTOTRBO two-way radio application portfolio which allows for multiple Teldio Applications on the same GOB.

Intelligent Design for a Flexible Solution

MDN parameters can best detect when an employee may have suffered a fall or been victim of an incident on the work site because the application recognizes that not all tasks are completed when standing up-right. These features also significantly reduce the risk of setting off a false MDN alarm. The point of reference of the application (or its 0° mark) is renewed every time the radio is powered on to give the solution greater flexibility. To ensure that the worker does not set off a false alarm, an audible pre-alarm is activated prior to sending the MDN emergency notification to the central Teldio server. The worker can easily cancel the pre-alarm by simply pressing the OK button on the radio keypad. In the event that an MDN alarm is activated, a loud audible beacon facilitates response teams to better locate the fallen worker.

To ensure that the application is designed for the unique needs of each worker, its features and parameters are customizable by the Administrator. Workers are also given additional freedom of use with MDN’s unique sleep mode. When activated, the application is disabled for a preconfigured lapse of time, only to be automatically reactivated once that time has elapsed.

Integrating with ACS for efficient alarm management and notification

Pairing MDN with ACS Plus unlocks additional features that enhance the notification and response processes. MDN emergency messages can be simultaneously sent to multiple communication devices (MOTOTRBO radios, cell phones, pagers, email) and can target response teams based on time of day, worker competency and/or location. ACS Plus provides workers an additional safety net by escalating the emergency notification until it is accepted and resolved by response individuals or teams. Multiple alarm sources can be synced with the ACS system to provide a complete alarm management and notification solution.
